Typical student progression:

• Preschool students will play with numbers and will learn how to write and count.
• Kindergarten students will build on core number skills with addition and subtraction.
• 1st grade introduces more complex addition and subtraction problems that involve concepts like place value.
• 2nd grade further increases the complexity of addition and subtraction problems with carrying, borrowing, and larger numbers.

At the core of the Abacus experience is an Intelligent Trainer that adapts the activities and feedback to your needs. The trainer is designed around current standards like CCSS, as well as the most recent research in instructional design and other educational research disciplines, with a focus on proven techniques such as guided instruction, encoding effect, interleaved practice, effective scaffolding, and prompt fading.
